Nancy O'Dell's radio career started as a reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as a morning anchor and crime reporter. O'Dell's reports in Charleston about the police's leniency when it comes to DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division to investigate. It led to states authorities enforcing more rigorous guidelines in these cases. The Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell an award for the Best Report of the year award for all South Carolina media.
