Nancy O'Dell's radio career started as a reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as a morning anchor and crime reporter. O'Dell's reports in Charleston about the police's leniency when it comes to DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division to investigate.
